Let me start off by saying, I am in no way, shape or form a medical professional. That being said maybe I'm missing something, but from what I can gather the swine flu is basically just the regular flu with a couple differences. One being that it is more contagious than the regular strain, and if you indeed have swine flu you need to be on a different medication.
Obviously the press was correct in alerting the public, but it seems like it's almost gotten to the point where they're trying to scare people. From some of the articles I've read and newscast I've seen you would think that we have a Rage Virus pandemic on our hands.

The media wishes they had a "Rage Virus" on their hands. They did the same thing with SARS in 2002 and bird flu. Fear sells papers and increases the ratings.
Yes. Sad but true.
Its also annoying to see an off-the-cuff comment by Joe Biden get taken out of context and require the White House public relations staff soothe the airline and transit lobbyists, but at the same time promise the public that they are being straightforward. I'm ready for mass media to breathe its last breath. Long live narrow casting!
I did hear something funny though - here in DC a radio station was giving away face masks with their logo on it. Anything can be a marketing ploy.
